CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested the mother of an infant who was killed over the weekend.
Wendy Johnson, 33, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse.
Police say they responded to a home Saturday after a call that a baby was unresponsive.
The infant boy was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators say he had been physically assaulted.
Police believe that Johnson’s physical abuse led to his death. Johnson is being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
