CONWAY, S.C. (AP) -- A new trial has been ordered for a man serving a life sentence for killing an Horry County couple.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/10fqhNz ) that a judge ruled this week that 40-year-old Richard Gagnon should be tried again because of evidence a jail inmate may have lied at his original trial.
Gagnon was convicted in 2008 in the deaths of Diane and Charles Parker Sr. Prosecutors said Gagnon was dating the couple's daughter and wanted to share in the couple's estate.
The main witness in the trial was an inmate who said Gagnon confessed to the killing. But a second inmate says the first prisoner lied.
Another man pleaded guilty to the killings after he was linked to DNA found at the scene of the slayings.
