NEWTON, N.C. -- The Catawba County Sheriff's Office says they've arrested an accused opium trafficker.
High traffic volume and anonymous tips led the Catawba County Sheriff's Office to investigate a home in the 2600 block of Claremont Road in Newton.
The resident, George Andrew Singer, Jr., was a probationer, officials say, and a probation officer was requested to visit Singer's home. Upon his arrival, the probation officer asked for the assistance of the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division to search the property.
Investigators report finding and seizing multiple Percocet prescriptions, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Singer, Jr. is charged with trafficking in opium, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked in the Catawba County Jail under an $80,000 bond.
