LANCASTER, S.C. -- A Lancaster man allegedly called police after shooting and killing his wife on Monday night.

Officers were called to a home in the 8900 block of Old Jefferson Highway after Joseph Daniel Hilton, 62, called to tell 911 dispatchers that he shot his wife once during an argument between the couple.

Hilton's wife, 59-year-old Deborah Faile Hilton, was found dead inside the house.

No one else was at the home during the crime, officials said.

Joseph Hilton surrendered to deputies in the front yard shortly before midnight and has been charged with murder.  He is currently being held at the Lancaster County Detention Center.
