GARNER, N.C. (AP) -- Officials have released the name of a student who was struck and killed at a school bus stop near Garner.
Officials say 14-year-old Maria Fernandez Jimenez of Garner was hit by another vehicle as she tried to cross the road as the bus neared the stop shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday.
She had entered the road just ahead of her 16-year-old brother to board the bus.
The bus was headed to Garner Magnet High School.
North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Gordon said no charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the car that struck the teen.
