WEDDINGTON, N.C. -- A Union County man is facing several drug-related charges after a raid of his home turned-up a meth lab, officials say.

Union County Sheriff's Investigators executed a search warrant at the home of 35-year-old Jerry Wayne Helms, Jr. in the 4900 block of Beulah Church Road in Weddington on Wednesday.

Detectives seized a "one-pot" meth lab, several grams of methamphetamine, precursor chemicals, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.

Authorities say Helms is a repeat meth offender, having been convicted of several drug charges in the past in Union County, and is currently on supervised probation.

Helms is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine, maintain a dwelling to keep controlled substances, possession of precursor chemicals, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

He's held in the Union County Jail; bond has not yet been set.
