CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating the city’s latest assault that left one man dead.
 

The incident happened on 5829 Hunting Ridge Lane around 10:14 p.m. Friday night. Authorities say they were responding to an assault call, when they arrived they found Walter Lee Gregory had been shot.  Gregory was pronounced dead minutes later.
 

Saturday morning officials arrested James Stanley Daye and charged him with murder.  According to detectives, Gregory and Daye knew one another and were involved in an on-going dispute.
 

Gregory is being held at the Mecklenburg County jail without bond.
