STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Statesville Police say a man stole $20,000 worth of antique model trains and tracks from his next door neighbor.
Douglas Todd Donahue, 46, was arrested Monday after officers spotted evidence that the stolen goods may be in his home.
The victim told officers more than $20,000-worth of antique model trains and tracks were taken from an outbuilding behind his residence.
When officers canvassed the neighborhood, officials say they observed evidence that the stolen property may be at Donahue's home, which is next door to the victim. Police say Donahue didn't come to the door.
A search warrant allowed officers to gain entry into Donahue's residence, and police say Donahue was found hiding in a crawl space.
The stolen goods were recovered from Donahue's home.
Donahue is charged with breaking, entering and larceny. His bond was set at $5000.
