MONROE, N.C. – Police have arrested two women after officials said they used an eight and 10-year-old to steal from Walmart.
Law enforcement tell NBC Charlotte the theft happened at the Walmart on West Roosevelt Boulevard Friday. Officials say Keyocea Covington-McLaurin and Jeanette Mary Covington loaded up a shopping cart and had the children push it out of the store.
According to a police report obtained by NBC Charlotte, both women gave loss prevention phony names once they were caught. Authorities say a short time later they discovered that Jeanette Mary Covington had previously been banned from the store.
It was not immediately clear if the two women were related.
The report states that both minors were turned over to their uncle. Both women were transported to the Union County jail and face a slew of charges including contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
