LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office arrested three men accused of stealing an air conditioning unit from a home in Lincolnton.
Deputies charged David Michael Henry, Glenn Wilson Smith, Jr. and Christopher Scott Withers with one count each of felony larceny and misdemeanor injury to real property.
All three men were caught after a neighbor witnessed the theft and called police, according to the police report.
Deputies said they pulled over a Chevrolet Camaro with all three men inside and discovered the air conditioning unit in the back of the vehicle.
“This is the type of action on the part of citizens that it’s going to take to deter the theft of air conditioning units from homes and businesses," Lincoln County Sheriff David Carpenter said. "If someone sees a crime in progress they are encouraged to call 911.”
Henry and Withers were released on a $5,000 secured bond. Smith was also served an outstanding warrant for failure to comply and is under a $5,795 secured bond.
