Knife-wielding robber holds up Monroe store

MONROE, N.C. -- Monroe Police are searching for the identity of a knife-wielding robber.

Just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, police say a light-skinned black male entered the Kangaroo convenience store in the 1600 block of West Franklin Street, brandished a weapon and demanded money from the clerk.

The suspect, who's described as about 6-feet-tall, weighing 160 pounds, made-off with an undetermined amount of cash, fleeing the store on foot.

The suspect was wearing a black t-shirt, black hat, jeans and a red bandana on his face.
