CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are trying to find the man who recently exposed himself to two women at the Harris YMCA in south Charlotte.
The incident happened around 5:45 Tuesday morning at the outdoor track. Investigators said the crime occurred at one of the corners of the track.
The two victims are in their 40’s and were jogging together. Fortunately there were no kids around. The YMCA said it plans to notify all Harris members.
Gabi Hartman is a member of the YMCA and uses the track every day.
"It’s kind of surprising and appalling considering I run this almost every day, so I don't know what I would do if I came face to face with somebody like that," Hartman said.
"We are sending communication to members of the Harris Y and then to our broader community some of those tips (on) how to keep them safe," said YMCA spokesperson Molly Thompson.
Some of the tips include running and jogging in groups and making sure to keep your cell phone with you.
Linwood Bolles has been a member since the YMCA opened. He said that most of the time when he sees people they are by themselves.
"I have friends that run on the greenway and bike and I ask them seriously. They are running with their ear pad in their ear and they can’t hear. That scares the heck out of me," said Bolles.
Police don’t have a lot of information to work with on this case. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30’s with a ball cap. Police ask that anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
