GASTONIA, N.C. – Authorities in Gastonia arrested a man after they say he hit a man with his vehicle, reversed and hit the victim again.
The incident happened on Pamela Street around 1:00 p.m. Saturday. According to the report, officials noted that Robert Claude Robinson, 53, struck the 24-year-old victim with his vehicle.
“The victim advised the offender struck him with a vehicle on purpose then backed up and struck the victim again with the vehicle before fleeing the scene,” Officer Gregory, S.A. wrote in the report.
It was not immediately clear how or if the victim and Robinson knew one another.
Officials arrested Robinson later that night on East Franklin Boulevard. He’s being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He was placed under a $2,000 secured bond.
No word yet on the victim’s condition.
