STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Police arrested a Statesville woman after they say she fraudulently used his information to steal thousands of dollars.
The victim reported the theft in October.
He told investigators he originally believed he lost his wallet containing his credit cards, personal information and identification. Soon after, he and his assistant noticed several checks were cashed from his account and almost two dozen charges were made to the credit cards. The loss totaled more than $15,000.
Detectives found the bank where the suspect allegedly deposited the checks into her own account. Through surveillance video, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office identified 26-year-old Ashley Moore as the suspect.
Police arrested her last week. Detectives served Moore 17 warrants for larceny, fraud and theft charges.
She was booked into the Iredell County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
