SALISBURY, N.C. -- Salisbury Police say a woman robbed her own bank on Monday.
Salisbury Police tell NBC Charlotte that 41-year-old Tara Jean Vaughn was arrested early Tuesday morning for the Monday bank robbery of the Wood Forest National Bank branch inside of the WalMart.
Vaughn went into the bank early Monday morning before it opened, police say, and later returned around 5:30 and inquired about getting starter checks.
That's when, police say, Vaughn told the teller 'I don't want to do this, but give me your money. I have a gun, but I don't want to shoot you."
The teller complied, and authorities say Vaughn fled the bank area and exited towards the grocery-side of WalMart.
Police say Vaughn has an account at Wood Forest National Bank, and the bank employees recognized her, and were able to look up her name, identifying her as the suspect.
Authorities did not disclose how much money was taken in the robbery.
Vaughn is charged with armed robbery, and was booked in to jail under a $50,000 bond.
