CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An arrest has been made in an early morning homicide in northwest Charlotte.
It happened just before 3 a.m. in the 1200 block of Lucky Penny Street.
Police arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking lot. Timothy Covington, 52, was later pronounced dead on scene.
Gregory Jones, 47, has been identified as the suspect. He was charged with involuntarily manslaughter after he voluntarily went to police headquarters and spoke with detectives.
This was not a random act of violence, according to police. Investigators say they did know each other.
