CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said what appeared to be a potential kidnapping  in south Charlotte on Tuesday was a domestic dispute.

The incident happened in the 7500 block of Waterford Square Drive around 5:00 p.m.  Reportedly police were called to the Waterford Apartments off Carmel Road, where a witness said he saw a man stop force a woman inside of an SUV.

The witness told police it appeared that the female was struggling to free herself from the male subject.

After investigating the incident, police discovered the woman and the man in the incident actually knew each other and had been arguing.

The woman told police the man had struck her during the argument. Police were able to track down the suspect and place him under arrest.
