CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have made an arrest in a 1985 murder case.

CMPD's cold case unit arrested Arthur Blake, 57, of Charlotte, on Thursday morning.

Blake is charged with murder and first-degree arson in the 1985 death of Tony Baucom.

On April 26, 1985, fire crews were dispatched to an apartment fire in the 1700 block of East 7th Street. Firemen found Baucom's body inside the burned unit, and say he died of injuries sustained during the fire.

The case was reopened in March of this year when the Chief Fire Investigator with the Charlotte Fire Department received new information pertinent to the case, and Blake was developed as a suspect.

Blake was arrested in the 3100 block of Creighton Drive Thursday morning, charged, then booked in to the Mecklenburg County Jail where he remains in custody.
