LANCASTER, S.C. -- Lancaster police have charged a man with murder after kids discovered a body in a wooded area over the weekend.
Authorities charged David Adam Pate in the murder of Rickey W. James after the two went into a wooded area behind Mullis Circle.
Police said Pate concealed James' body under a pile of brush. Authorities say children looking for a missing family dog on Saturday found the body in the wooded area.
James had been missing since October 17, police said.
Pate was charged with murder Friday morning and remains at the Lancaster County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
Pate was arrested for disorderly conduct on November 11th. He has been jailed at the Detention Center since then on that charge. No motive for the murder has been determined.
