CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. -- The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Granite Falls man with one count of stalking and one count of secretly peeping into an occupied room.
Authorities said Gary Dean Greene, 40, was arrested April 18 as the result of an investigation that started several months ago when residents of the Sawmills Community –located between Granite Falls and Hudson – reported suspicious activity.
According to the sheriff’s office, Greene has been on the N.C. Sex Offender Registry since 2010. He is being held at the Caldwell County Detention Center on two separate bonds of $5,000 each. Greene is scheduled to appear in Caldwell County District Court June 24.
Sheriff Alan Jones said in a statement the residents’ reports of unusual neighborhood activity “is proof that citizens can make a difference by being vigilant and contacting the authorities when they’re unsure of certain activities in their area.”
