ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- York County deputies say they charged a man with assault after he strung fishing line across a street because he was mad at a man and woman for riding up and down the road on their moped.

Authorities say the man and woman on the moped were wrapped in the fishing line when deputies arrived and the man suffered a cut lip.

Investigators say 37-year-old Jerry McClure of Rock Hill told deputies he put up the fishing line as a prank and didn't want anyone to get hurt. Deputies say he told them he was tired of the couple riding on the street.

McClure was charged with third-degree assault and battery. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
