BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- The father of an 8-year-old boy shot and killed while he visited a home in Bennettsville is facing charges in connection with his son's death.
State Law Enforcement Division agents arrested 30-year-old Justin Brueger on Wednesday and charged him with unlawful conduct toward a child.
Investigators say Brueger was cleaning a rifle Sunday night when it fired, hitting his son Easton in the stomach. The boy died a short time later in the hospital.
WPDE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/UGL33n ) that Brueger apologized to his son at a bond hearing. He was allowed out of jail, but ordered to remove all guns from his home.
Brueger faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
