LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. -- The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office announced a large drug bust on Monday afternoon.
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division, began surveilling a home in the 11700 block of Harrisburg Road last Wednesday.
Authorities observed 25-year-old Joseph Shawn Chasteen and 18-year-old Cody Howard leaving the residence. Knowing that Chasteen didn't have a driver's license, officials conducted a traffic stop.
In the stop, officers located approximately four pounds of heroin, a sawed-off shotgun, a small amount of marijuana, balloons filled with heroin, scales, plastic bags and a vacuum sealer. The Sheriff's Office says the heroin seized has a street value of $400,000.
Chasteen and Howard were both arrested and charged with trafficking heroin, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and possession of marijuana.
Bond was denied for both Chasteen and Howard upon their booking into the Lancaster County Detention Center.
