CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. -- A six-month long investigation into a suspected drug trafficker netted an arrest and four ounces of methamphetamine.

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with Homeland Security, the Lenoir Police Department, NC State Bureau of Investigations and North Carolina Highway Patrol worked together on the investigation that culminated in the arrest of 36-year-old Michael Wayne Jenkins.

Jenkins, of Boomer, was arrested Tuesday after investigators found four ounces of crystal meth hidden inside of a lamp, along with a loaded .380 pistol while conducting a traffic stop.

Jenkins is charged with felony trafficking in methamphetamine by possession and felony trafficking in methamphetamine by transportation.

Jenkins was booked in to the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.
