ALBEMARLE, N.C. --  A man in Albemarle reported that a firearm had been stolen from his home, leading authorities to connect the stolen firearm to a shootout with CMPD officers.

Deputies with the Stanly County Sheriff's Office say a man reported his Mossberg .22 cal rifle on an AR-15-type frame stolen from his home.

Evidence gathered by deputies identified 23-year-old Ramar Dion Crump as the suspect in the firearm theft.

Crump and two other suspects were recently arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police for their alleged roles in a shootout with CMPD officers at an industrial park on North Tryon Street just over a week ago.

Detectives with the Stanly County Sheriff's Office were able to confirm with CMPD that the firearm reported stolen by the victim was seized as evidence in the officer-involved shooting.

Crump is held in the Mecklenburg County Jail under bonds by CMPD, and now the Stanly County Sheriff's Office on the charge of larceny of a firearm.
