HARRISBURG, N.C. -- Authorities in Harrisburg are looking for a van and a suspect who reportedly tried to lure a young girl into the vehicle on Sunday afternoon.
Around 4:30 Sunday, the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office says a young girl told her parents she was approached by a black "work-style" van in the Heatherstone subdivision off Stallings Road.
The girl reported that the driver, a white male with a deep voice, showed her a photograph of a dog and asked for her help in locating it. The girl told the man no, and the van left the area.
Then, the girl told authorities the van came back, and the driver told her she was pretty, and asked that she get in the van to help him find his dog. The girl told him no again and reported the incident to her parents, who then contacted the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.
Responding officers were unable to locate the vehicle, and officials ask anyone who may have seen it, or who may have a surveillance system in the Heatherstone subdivision to give the Sheriff's Office a call.
Officials say the black van reportedly has a white mark on the driver's side fender.
