LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is hoping you help to identify a person who they say intentionally threw a water bottle from a passing car at a child.

Tuesday night around 8, deputies responded to the 2700 block of Coral Drive. The complainant, Mike Hudson, told authorities that as he and his son were walking down the side of the road, someone threw a water bottle from a late model Chevy Malibu, striking the toddler in the nose.

The toddler sustained an inch-and-a-half cut on his nose. The boy was taken to CMC Lincoln for treatment.

The Sheriff's Office says the suspect vehicle continued traveling north toward Springs East Road.

The driver of the suspect vehicle is believed to be a white male in his early 20s with dark hair; authorities believe he was wearing a light gray or white t-shirt.

The water bottle was taken as evidence, and officials say it will be fingerprinted.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at (704) 732-9050.
