COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities investigating the shooting death of a Clemson University student at his off-campus home in a gated community have charged one of his roommates with simple possession of marijuana.

Pickens County deputies say they found the marijuana while searching the home Saturday night after 23-year-old Steven Grich was killed and arrested 29-year-old Robert McKinley on the misdemeanor charge.

A relative answering the phone at a listing for McKinley says he was devastated by his roommate's death and was cooperating with investigators as he prepared for finals. The woman says no one has been able to go back into the home since the shooting. She refused to give her name.

Deputies say they are looking for three men seen leaving the neighborhood in a black, four-door Dodge Durango.
