GASTONIA, N.C. -- The Rowan County Sheriff's Office is offering up cold, hard cash for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the parties responsible for stealing items from two patrol cars.
A Rowan County Sheriff's Deputy was attending a training conference at a Gastonia hotel when the trunk of his patrol vehicle was broken into and weapons and tactical gear were stolen.
Stolen items include a Glock model 23, .40 semi-automatic handgun with night sights, a Steamlight TRL-1 Tac light, a Safariland Glock drop leg ALS holster, a Smith and Wesson M&P15 .223 fully automatic rifle, a Remington .308, a model 700 LTR Police Sniper rifle with scope, bipod and hard case and two police tactical vests.
Authorities say a second patrol vehicle that belongs to the High Point Police Department was also broken in to and items stolen.
Gastonia police released a picture of the suspect vehicle Friday. It’s described as a silver or light gold Ford SUV, possibly an Explorer or Escape.
