ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- Charges have been upgraded against an Anderson County man charged with setting his mother on fire.
Deputies say 38-year-old Stanley Shawn Davis was charged with murder Thursday after his mother died of organ failure. Authorities say 61-year-old Debra Davis of Piedmont died Tuesday, weeks after she was set on fire.
Sheriff's deputies say they think that one of the woman's sons doused her in gasoline and burned her Jan. 1.
Stanley Davis was originally charged with attempted murder after the fire. Investigators say he was shot and wounded by his brother after the fire. The brother was not charged.
