CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An inmate who failed to return after an approved weekend leave in Asheville was captured Friday morning in Georgia.
The North Carolina Department of Public Safety Office and Asheville law enforcement agencies were searching for an inmate that did not return after weekend leave.
Genenne Davis, 51, never returned from a weekend visit with family and friends last week, according to North Carolina public safety officials.
She was found Friday in Norcross, Georgia by United States Marshals.
Davis was nearing completion of a three-year sentence for identity fraud and was serving her time at the Swannanoa Correctional Center for Women in Black Mountain.
She has no history of violent crimes, according to the corrections department.
Authorities initially believed Davis may have traveled to Kernersville or the Charlotte area where she has friends and family.
