CONCORD, N.C. -- North Carolina’s chief medical examiner released new details in regards to the toxicology report on Valerie Hamilton on Monday afternoon.
Hamilton, the daughter of former Concord Police Chief Merl Hamilton, was found dead and wrapped up in a storage unit in the fall of 2010.
The report shows she had alcohol, cocaine, hydrocodone, heroin and nicotine in her system. New details show she had double the legal limit of alcohol in her system when she died.
A January 2011 Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s autopsy says Hamilton died from a drug overdose, citing “combined heroin and cocaine toxicity” as Hamilton’s cause of death.
Michael Harvey is accused of killing her after they left a Plaza Midwood bar.
Harvey has denied killing Hamilton since his arrest in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Harvey, a convicted sex offender who was on probation, has claimed that Hamilton overdosed in her sleep.
A trial date hasn't been set for Harvey.
