CLOVER, S.C. -- A student in Clover has been arrested and charged after allegedly threatening to kill a classmate.
Last Tuesday, the York County Sheriff's Office was called out to Clover Middle School on reports of a death threat made by a student.
According to the incident report, a 14-year-old male student threatened to kill another 14-year-old male student with a weapon.
Deputies obtained the suspect's journal, and say they discovered writings that mentioned shooting the victim with a shotgun.
No weapons were found to be in the suspect's custody, and the teen told deputies he doesn't even own a shotgun and that he "didn't want to talk about weapons".
Authorities asked the 14-year-old suspect about the writings in his journal, and he replied that he resented how he and the victim's mutual friends chose to sit with the victim at lunch time, and that he was angry because of the victim's material possessions.
School officials told authorities they'd confiscated similar writings from the student in the past, and that he'd been disciplined according to the school's policies.
The student is charged with first-degree assault and battery and has been transferred to MJC Juvenile Holding.
