CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man accused of driving drunk slammed into a house in south Charlotte early Thursday morning.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a man driving drunk lost control of his car on Tyvola Road, hit a power pole and then slammed into a home on Londonderry Road around 2:30 a.m.
People were in the home during the time of the incident but were not injured, according to police.
The residents were not able to stay in the house because power was knocked out during the incident.
The driver was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK. Police plan to charge the driver with DUI.
Police have not yet released the name of the driver.
