SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities say two men were caught taking scrap metal from a Rowan County home after their truck got stuck in the mud in the homeowner's yard.

The Salisbury Post reports that 26-year-old John Locklear and 36-year-old William Elliott are charged with felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor larceny.

The homeowner called the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, reporting two men stuck in the mud. A metal yard fence and metal post had been taken from the owner's garage.

The men claimed they had the owner's permission. Both were taken to the Rowan County jail.
