CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Three of the five teenage suspects in the murder of 17-year-old Kydaryune "K.C." Curry appeared in a Mecklenburg County court Wednesday afternoon.
Sheldon Gregory, Dedric McKenzie and Samuel Walker are facing first-degree murder charges and each faced a judge Wednesday.
Bruck Fekadu and Jeremy Pate appeared yesterday. Fekadu was given a bond amount of $1 million while Pate was given a bond hearing date of September 26.
"I'm praying for him, that's all I'm gonna say," said a friend of McKenzie at the courthouse.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Investigators say the five teens decided to beat Curry up after he allegedly disrespected them in front of a girl. The teen was assaulted and shot Sunday evening on North Gate Trail Drive.
The judge gave the suspects $1 million bond apiece and court appointed attorneys. Gregory, McKenzie and Walker have a bond hearing on October 3.
