GASTONIA, N.C. -- Gaston County police arrested a Forestview High School teacher accused of giving a student pills to sell to other classmates.
Police charged Meredith Burris Pruitt with possession with the intent to sell a schedule controlled substance, promoting drug sales by a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police said Pruitt provided pills to a 15-year-old student while on the school campus. During the investigation it was determined that Pruitt had provided the student with four Clonazepam pills, according to the police report.
The investigation also revealed that the student sold them to other classmates and then gave part of the profits of the sales to Pruitt, according to the police.
School officials said Pruitt was fired from her teaching position on Thursday.
Pruitt was released under a $15,000 secured bond. Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
