STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Police arrested two suspects on robbery charges following an incident in Statesville.

It happened around 9 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of West front Street.

The victim told police the suspects approached him asking for a light before one of them pushed the victim on the ground and into the street. Police say they dug into the man’s pocket and stole his wallet.

The suspect, identified 28-year-old Travis Green, returned the man’s wallet once a driver stopped to help him, police say. The victim soon after noticed $10 was missing from his wallet.

Responding officers found Green on a nearby street.

The second suspect, 23-year-old Antonio McDonald, was arrested shortly after.

Both were charged with robbery and given a $10,000 secured bond.
