STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Two men accused of stealing a push lawn mower from an Iredell County home improvement store have been taken into police custody.

Deputies pulled over a 2008 Pontiac on Turnersburg Highway near I-77 on Saturday. Employees told police the suspects in the car stole the lawn mower, valued at $400, from Lowes in Statesville minutes before.

Police then questioned the driver, 35-year-old Christopher Garber, and passenger, 38-year-old Michael Nichols Jr., for the crime.

During question, police say they also found drug paraphernalia in the car. Garber now faces charges for the paraphernalia and expired registration.
