LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- Detectives following up on an existing criminal investigation found two meth labs on a Lincoln County property, according to the sheriff’s office.
Police found several people in a wooded area near the home located in the 8800 block of Highway 10 when they arrived Friday afternoon.
As they got closer, the sheriff’s office says the suspect threw a one pot meth lab into nearby brush, setting a fire. Firefighters were called out to extinguish the flames.
Investigators then found a second one pot lab inside of the mobile home on the property. An SBI crew is handling cleanup.
Police arrested the man they originally intended to investigate for break-in and larceny charges. Rodney Scott Wright, 44, is accused of breaking into a building on Highway 27 West on Thursday and removing lockers, a stove and bed rails.
He has been booked into jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
