CHESTER, S.C. -- Two suspects wanted in connection with a murder in Chester were located by police in Myrtle Beach on Monday.

“A (Myrtle Beach) bicycle officer saw Anthony Isom and Crystal Pardue walking to a store early Monday morning and called for backup,” said Chester Police Chief Andre’ T. Williams.  “They were staying at a hotel.”

On Friday Police said Isom came to McAteer’s home at 103 Tremont Drive in Chester and a fight started.  By the time officers arrived they found McAteer unresponsive.  He later died after being flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

McAteer and his wife had just celebrated their third wedding anniversary on June 8. The couple has two children, 3-year-old Alora, and Ava, who turned six months old on the day of the beating.

“They came by the house when we were packing to go to the beach,” said Beth Whiteside, the victim’s wife. “They came before Brad got here and they waited for him."

Isom has been charged with murder while his girlfriend, Pardue, is accused of helping Isom flee the area.

“He was a great dad, wonderful father. He loved his girls like crazy and he loved Beth. They were best friends,” said McAteer’s mother-in-law Nannette Austin.

McAteer’s family said it is relieved the arrests were made so quickly.  Several police departments, including Myrtle Beach, and SLED, helped find the couple.
