SALISBURY, N.C. -- The U.S. Marshals Office says a wanted violent criminal was arrested in Salisbury Friday morning.
Around 9:30, the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested 42-year-old Waylon Vernon Russell in the 300 block of East Liberty Street in Salisbury.
Authorities say Russell is wanted for a 2002 homicide in Georgia in which the victim had penetrating trauma to the neck with an unknown weapon, and was then set on fire.
Russell is being held in the Davidson County Jail while awaiting extradition to Wayne County, Georgia.
