LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a man wanted for a bank robbery in Lincolnton last week.

Authorities believed Gendron may have fled the area, so Lincolnton Police and Gaston County Police enlisted the support of the U.S. Marshals Service in an effort to locate 49-year-old Jean Pierre Gendron.

Gendron is a suspect in the Peoples Bank robbery that occurred on April 2 in the 700 block of Highway 27 West.

The U.S. Marshals began an multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional effort to locate the fugitive, that extended from North Carolina up to Massachusetts.

Marshals arrested Gendron in Southbridge, Massachusetts Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators with Gaston County and Lincolnton Police Departments are actively investigating Gendron for his involvement in multiple crimes, including arson, bank robbery, motor vehicle theft, breaking and entering, larceny and assault on a female.
