CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Vance High School student has been charged with possession of a firearm on school property following an incident this week.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they received an anonymous call about a weapon on a school bus.
Officers checked the bus in question but say it was empty. They later located the student mentioned in the call off of school grounds, and say he was in possession of the weapon.
The minor student is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon and has been disciplined according to the student code of conduct.
Police say there was no threat associated with this student and there no need to add extra security to the school.
