NEWPORT, N.C. (AP) -- Carteret County deputies say a man who fired several shots into a pickup truck after he was beaten in a road rage incident has turned himself in, along with his wife, who gave him the gun.
Investigators say 40-year-old Bradley Turner and his 30-year-old wife, Christy, were taken into custody by deputies near their home in Lenoir County. Both face charges of assault by pointing a gun. It wasn't known if they had a lawyer.
The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday just off U.S. 70 in Newport.
Deputies say Turner followed a pickup driver home, then punched him after asking why he ran him off the road. The pickup driver and his passenger began beating up Turner, throwing him to the ground.
Turner's wife gave him a pistol, and Turner fired several shots, hitting the truck and a nearby home.
Deputies say no one was wounded.
