DENVER, N.C. – Detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a person of interest who attempted to pass a possible stolen check.

It happened at People’s Bank on Highway 16 in Denver on February 18.

Detectives say a black female entered the bank around 3 p.m. and presented a fraudulent check written from Everette Chevrolet in Hickory for over $500.  Bank officials informed the woman that they would not cash the check and she immediately lef the bank.

She was last seen getting into a late model silver Chevrolet Impala or Malibu that was sitting in a nearby parking lot.

Detectives say the woman, who gave the name of Danielle Carson, left behind an Ohio driver’s license.  The photo on the driver’s license matches the photo taken from the surveillance video.

The suspect is described as a black woman, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050, or the Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202, or Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909.  You can remain anonymous.  If your tip to Crime Stoppers leads to an arrest, you could receive a reward of up to $1000.
