CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a suspect after a hit-and-run accident killed a woman earlier this month.
Police said 30-year-old Valerie Miranda was killed while walking on Monroe Road in east Charlotte on November 20.
On Tuesday, police found a 2008 Ford F150 pickup believed to be involved in the incident. The car was located at a home in Charlotte, and police arrested Amber Nicole De Jesus, 26, and charged her with felony hit and run and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The incident happened near Ashbrook Drive. Police say De Jesus sped off after hitting Miranda, who died at the scene.
Investigators say the woman had just finished a shift at a fast-food restaurant when she was hit.
