CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. -- Cabarrus County deputies arrested two women for allegedly breaking into a home.

A witness called police after seeing two women enter a neighbor’s house on Archer Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The women broke into the house through the garage door and took some of the victim’s property, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies caught one woman in the house but they say the other fled to nearby woods. They used a K-9 to track down the suspect and arrest her.

Police say Katie Jo McAlpine, 24, and Anita McAlpine, 46, were living in their car. Some of the victim’s property was allegedly found in the vehicle.

Both women are charged with breaking and entering and larceny. Katie McAlpine will also serve time for unrelated charges. Police do not believe they are responsible for any other area break-ins.
