YORK COUNTY, S.C. – Police in York County believe they’ve found the man who stole dozens of vases from a cemetery late last month.

In late November 40 bronze vases worth about $12,000 were stolen from the Lakeview Memory Gardens cemetery in York County.

Charles Wayne Cochran, 42, of Clover was arrested on Saturday, the York County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.

Officials said Cochran brought the cemetery vases to a Dallas recycling plant on November 28 and 29 and sold them for scrap, but he has denied stealing the vases, according to the police report.

Cochran is charged with larceny and desecration of human burial grounds.
