YORK , S.C – The York Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened early Saturday morning.
A caller called 911 at 4:48 a.m. after seeing a body lying in the roadway on New Street between Hill Street and Congress Street. The caller told authorities, it appeared the person was not breathing.
Police say when they arrived, they found a black man around 40-50 years old lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police believe the victim was hit by a car that left the scene before the 911 call.
The victim’s name will not be released until family has been contacted.
